She obtained her B. Appl. Sci (Hons) in Food Science & Technology from the National University of Singapore (NUS) in 2005 and her Ph.D. from the Department of Chemistry at NUS in 2010. She began her academic career as a lecturer at Temasek Polytechnic, Singapore (2009–2013), before returning to Sri Lanka to lead the Functional Food Product Development Project at the National Institute of Fundamental Studies (2013–2016). She has also served as a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Food Technology, Faculty of Technology, Rajarata University of Sri Lanka. From 2019 to 2025, she was the Deputy Principal of the Australian College of Business & Technology – Kandy Campus, where she played a key leadership role in academic and administrative development. She is currently the Head of Academic Affairs of the Asiri Academy of Health Sciences in Kandy, Sri Lanka. She currently serves as the Ambassador for Sri Lanka for the Global Harmonization Initiative (GHI) and is the Co-Chair of its Working Group on Nutrition, actively contributing to international dialogue on food safety, regulatory standards, and nutrition policy.
