Department of Biotechnology, North Orissa University, Baripada, Odisha, 757003, INDIA. My research focuses on genetic association studies of variants in genes responsible for parasite invasion and replication within RBC (such as ABO blood groups, CR1, G6PD) or elimination of infected RBC (thalassemia) and host immunity in order to understand their role in inter-individual variation in disease susceptibility and severity in malaria. Besides, we are also investigating the role of Renin-Angiotensin System (RAS) and NO in malaria pathogenesis. Moreover, we are looking at genetic diversity, extent and distribution of variant forms of two most common Plasmodium parasites (P.falciparum and P. vivax) which are crucial in the development of local effective control measures. Educational Qualification: Doctoral Thesis: Role of Nitric Oxide (NO) in pathogenesis of severe Plasmodium falciparum malaria, Utkal University, Bhubaneswar, Orissa, India (2006 – 2011), Master of Science in Botany with Specialization in Molecular, Biology and Biotechnology, Ravenshaw College, Cuttack, Utkal University Bhubaneswar, Orissa, India (2004 – 2006), Bachelor of Science (Undergraduate) in Botany (Hon’s), Chemistry and Zoology, Government College, Bhawanipatna, Sambalpur University, Sambalpur Orissa. India (2001 – 2004).
