Msafiri Yusuph Mkonda

Msafiri Yusuph Mkonda is a Ph.D. holder in Agricultural Resources and Environment from the Center of Excellence for Soil Biology in the College of Resources and Environment, Southwest University in P.R.C. Currently, Dr. Mkonda is a Lecturer at Sokoine University of Agriculture in Tanzania where he teaches Physical Geography, Research Methods in Geography, Soil Sciences, Environmental Education, and Agricultural Planning, and supervises students’ research projects at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. His research interest focuses on climate change, tropical agricultural systems, soil sciences, plant nutrition and cereal crop production especially in the tropical and semi-arid climates, in which he also conducts consultancies. He has widely published over 17 academic papers and book chapters in international peer reviewed journals. Recently (in 2017) he got the Outstanding Young Scholar Award by the 19th International Botanical Conference (IBC 2017) and 12nd International Congress of Ecology (INTECOL 2017) both held in China, where he made oral presentations. In addition, he has been invited to make poster presentations in the 3rd International Conference on Global Food Security in Cape Town South Africa (3-6 December 2017) and Ecology Across Borders in Ghent, Belgium (11 - 14 December 2017).
