Dr. Oluyomi Sowemimo is an alumnus of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria where he obtained his B.Sc. Zoology in 1990. He completed his M.Sc. and Ph.D. in the field of Parasitology in the same institution in 2000 and 2007 respectively. He joined the services of Obafemi Awolowo University as a Graduate Assistant in 1997 and through hard work and impressive academic record rose to his present position of Senior Lecturer in 2009. He belongs to many local and international professional bodies including British Society of Parasitology, Parasitology and Public Health Society of Nigeria, International Epidemiological Association. Dr. Sowemimo is a Parasitologist with special interest in Medical Parasitology and Public Health. His research has focused on epidemiology of parasitic diseases of public health importance. Dr. Sowemimo is a recipient of a number of awards including the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Global Health Travel Award which he enjoyed for four years (2006, 2008-2009, 2014) to attend and international conferences. Dr. Sowemimo is currently a Senior Lecturer at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria. He has published a total of 24 scientific articles in reputable peer-reviewed International and local Journals.
